Year 5 & 6 Challenge: Francophone countries

We have started the year by learning which other countries in the world speak French as one of their official languages.  There are 53 countries in total including Canada, many African countries and Caribbean countries too - amazing!  So now, when we talk about French, we are not just talking about France.  Click here for a map of 20 Francophone countries and their flags to get us started.

Thank you to Suzi Bewell from Polygot Languages for this great idea!

You will have been given a Monopoly board in your French lessons.  Click on the image above to get another copy.
1. Choose one of the 20 Francophone countries that you are interested in and write this in French in the blue box on your board.
2. Now roll a dice 7 times.  Wherever you land, you need to complete the challenge.  Collate your findings in an A4 poster that we can put on display.

As an extra challenge, you can add up the money that you would have won if you were playing Monopoly!  Each square has a different colour - depending on how easy or hard the challenge is, you earn more or less euros!

Class workbooks:

Each class spends 10-15 minutes per week recapping and extending their knowledge of French vocabulary by working through the workbooks below.
